
In an effort to utilize available resources from area educational facilities to help maximize the efficiency and services of the department the Old Lycoming Township Volunteer Fire Company has implemented an EMT / FIREFIGHTER LIVE-IN PROGRAM. This program is targeted toward interested college students and essentially offers free housing to the acceptable applicant in exchange for a commitment to respond to the department’s fire and rescue and ambulance calls.
ELIGIBILTY
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must have a valid drivers license
- Must be certified a EMT ,FIRST RESPONDER or HIGHER
- Must have valid CPR, First Aid (If not certified as stated above applicant will have one year to certify)
- Must be enrolled full time as a student in one of the local colleges
- Must have personal mode of transportation
Requirements:
- Each Live –In must maintain their own mailing address. OLTVFD will not be responsible for live-in member’s mail.
- Each Live – In must have their own personal mode of transportation. OLTFVD vehicles are not for personal use. ****
- Each Live- In must maintain a full time student status (12 or more credits per semester)
- Each Live-In member must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA
- Each Live-In member is responsible for securing their personal property. OLTVFD strongly suggest anything of valve be recorded and the information be kept in a secure place. OLTFVD is not responsible for lost of personal property)
- DRUGS and/or ALCOHOL WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. No Live-In may be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol on OLTFVD property. Immediate dismissal will from the program for those caught under the influence. ****
- THE OLTFD BUILDING is a TOBACCO FREE AREA. Any Live- in caught using Tobacco products in the building or outside the permitted areas may be suspended or expelled from program. ****
- OLTVFD phones can not be used for personal use
- Live- In must reapply on a yearly basis to the program. No Exceptions.
- Live-In may reside in the program as a resident in the station for their college terms. Provide they continue to meet criteria of the program and they are accepted by yearly reapplication.
- Each Live-In must respond to emergency calls during their assigned schedule or others to which they are certified. Discretion is to be used for calls 2.0 hours prior to necessary engagements or appointments i/e classes, test etc.
- Each Live-In must reach an EMT Status within eight months.
- Live-Ins will be required to help at Bingo at least two weekends a month. The Live -In will be reimbursed for their time.
- Each Live – In is required to give two full weekends a month to respond on emergency calls. This period will start at 10:00 P.M. Friday and end at 10:00P.M. Sunday.
- Each Live-In is required to complete assigned duties or chores.
- Each live-in is responsible to attend at least 6 monthly meetings
- Live-Ins may ride Engine 14-1 as long as they meet the requirements and there is enough people in station to respond EMS if the need arises.
- Under no circumstances shall Live-ins be allowed to ride 14-1 if such action will prevent the possible response of Station 14 EMS Rig.
